Makes a smooth cup of coffee - much prefer it to our old (regular) coffeemaker. Love that it only has ceramic and stainless steel parts - no plastic anywhere.

I really like my new coffee pot. It's really good looking, and I don't have to buy filters for it. I didn't give it 5 stars, because it leaves a little sludge in the bottom of the pot. I stop pouring before I get to it. The coffee tastes good!

Like Joni, 2214..........At first try with 4 cup pot I was very disappointed with amount of water to fill line I was ready to send it back, but because it's porcelain and stainless steel and attractive, I thought it merited another try or two.. After a few tries I used the 27oz the catalog says it holds and poured very slowly. That worked!!!! Yes it does make really good tasting coffee, depending on the brand of coffee used.

By Love this coffee maker!
For the past 4 years, I've been using the Aeropress coffee maker to make my 2 morning cups with each day. Aeropress makes fantastic coffee. On it's drawbacks, it uses a lot of coffee for a single cup and it can take some real work to push the plunger mechanism down. I have now started using the Sowdon, and have found that the quality of the coffee is nearly as good as the Aeropress. Additionally I can make two to three cups at once and no disposable filters are used. It is easy to dump my used grounds into my kitchen composter. The only downside, and this would be true of any porcelan or glass maker, is that I have to reheat the coffee in the microwave by the time I get to the second or third cup. Overall, a wonderful low tech coffee maker though.

A very good cup of coffee comes out of this little coffee pot. Really smooth! I usually use Pete's Coffee beans. Easy to use and clean. It will be perfect in our camper too. I saw they used a larger one on the Ellen Show last week!

By a big hit!
I'm not a coffee drinker, but I have an out-of-town friend who is, so for her latest visit I ordered the Softbrew to replace my broken French press. And is she ever happy I did! Once she worked out the perfect amount of coffee and the best brew time, she was in java heaven. In fact, she may order one herself. I'm thrilled that I found it in the Isabella catalog -- I love the company and its products. The Softbrew is a true find!

When I replaced my difficult-to-clean expensive machine with this little pot, my coffee-connisseur son rolled his eyes--and then blinked in shock after his first taste of what it produces. Guess who is getting the larger version as a birthday gift!

...It brews a great cup of coffee. Using French roast with this, we get a rich strong dessert coffee that rivals espresso. A little grit from the grounds does get through the filter but not enough to cause problems. Good enough that we find ourselves turning down coffee-shop coffee knowing THIS is waiting at home.

This is perfect--a good looking, high-performance coffee pot. It is so easy to use, and I am really happy not to have to deal with paper filters, something else to buy, store and discard, and possibly anther source of exposure to unpleasant chemicals. The coffee is very good, and it stays warm for a reasonable amount of time. All in all, I am very enthusiastic about this purchase.

This item only makes 2 cups if you follow the directions to not fill with water above the fill line on the filter!!! I kept it anyway because I like the lines & it also makes great loose leaf tea..

I make mate every morning. I have an array of vessels for this job, including the aero press sold in this catalogue. I also have a large insulated mug with a tea infuser that fits inside, similar to this pot. For speed, I use the aero press. For a more leisurely brew, I use this or the mug. I wish I had gotten a larger size. The infuser takes up a lot of room, so the pot doesn't brew a whole lot more than my large mug.

The coffee pot was attractive but I wasn't impressed with the taste of the coffee.

I am so incredibly happy with this coffee maker! It is the perfect size for my weekend coffee fix and brews the most robust, flavorful coffee. Clean up is very easy - I was pleasantly surprised. The grounds come out easily with a slight tap and then you just wash up.

My idea of heaven is checking out all the new coffee makers at the annual International Home & Housewares Show. My fave and new coffee pot of choice is the Softbrew Coffee Maker. First of all, it's lovely enough to give as a gift to my architect girlfriend. Read more...

And then there's its versatility. Not only is it also great for tea, it's the answer for iced coffee using the cold-soak method. It couldn't be easier to clean, and seriously, I could fill a page with why I love this porcelain beauty so much.

It features an easy-to-clean, micro-thin filter that enables you to use any grind of coffee (or tea). After pouring in boiling water, you cover and let brew for a few minutes. That's it. Your coffee brewed to perfection is ready!

This method was invented by George Sowden, and the secret lies in the millions of tiny holes in the filter. It lets the coffee brew to its full richness while keeping the grounds out of your cup. You won't find anything else like it because it's protected by a worldwide patent.

It's perfect for the office, a college dorm room, or for anyone who would rather not take up a lot of counter space on a $250 unit destined to malfunction and end up in a landfill. George Sowden, you're my hero. Dishwasher safe.
