There are three things to know about this book upfront: 1) When we carried it years ago, before it went out of print, a number of employees bought several copies for themselves because they wanted it in their families for many Christmas celebrations to come; 2) even though it was out of print for 8 years, we still had customers asking for it; 3) before it was back in print, Amazon.com listed one "new" copy for $50! Based on works of art from all over the world, from as far back as the 12th century, this collection of angels could end up being some of the very prettiest ornaments on your tree, centerpieces on your table or mantle, or hung from on high, and can be a Christmas tradition that takes on a life of its own. You can use felt tip pens, watercolors, colored pencils, or crayons, and add glitter, or anything else that suits your fancy. Creating an angel is great therapy for an adult; you could get delightfully lost in coloring in the details and making sure that every outlined feather on every wing is cut perfectly. But children can try their hand at it too, especially if you're not picky about staying inside lines and seeing the angel look flawless in the end. When the holiday season is over, the angels can be unfolded and packed away until next year.

''I first brought one of these books of angels home when we originally carried them and I think we eventually accumulated 4 books over the years (not to mention giving innumerable copies as gifts accompanied by a set of markers). Every year we bring out the unfinished angels maybe a week before Christmas, set aside an area of the dining room table, and put out markers, colored pencils, crayons, glitter, glue, sequins, etc. Throughout the course of days, lots of family and friends of family are in and out of the house. Some sit down and get totally involved in creating an angel. Others add a little something to ones that have already been started. The youngest children are particularly happy with gluing on glitter and sequins. The teenagers and adults like painstakingly coloring in every detail. One nephew made a ''punk'' angel when he was a 'tween -- all black! We have quite a collection now, and we wish we'd had each person sign and date the angels they created. When we first began doing this, we perched the various angels on the Christmas tree, but as the collection has grown, we've put all the completed angels together on a table as a host of angels, or had them lined up across the valance of the drapes in the living room -- sort of an ''angels we have heard on high'' effect. The last Christmas my older sister was still in good shape (she died several years ago), we attached nylon cord to the angels and hung them individually from the ceiling in front of the fireplace, going from the fireplace to the entry doorway. The effect was magical. You walked into the house to be greeted by hosts of angels flying above you. My sister burst into tears when she came over for Christmas that year -- she was so touched by the sight. We did the same thing this past year, and my granddaughter and daughter-in-law were full of delight and wonder at the magical effect when they came in on Christmas Eve.

Making the angels could also be a family project or group gift for someone. Each family or group member can create an angel and sign it and then you give all the angels to the recipient. You can send angels to members who live elsewhere and ask them to complete one and return it to be part of the group gift.

This started out as such a small activity, with just a few angels being made the first year we did it, and now has grown to be quite a collection as we've brought out the unfinished angels for people to decorate over the years. Making the angels has become a treasured tradition in our family and bringing out the box of finished ones always brings back memories of who made each one and when they did it.''

Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Territories and International Shipping: We ship only via USPS Priority Mail to these locations as UPS is considerably more expensive. Our shipping rates for these locations are based on weight. If the estimated shipping charge will cover the cost of the shipment, we will send it out. If not, we may contact you for authorization prior to shipping.

Return Policy We want you to love your purchase! But if not, here's our return and exchange policy.

RETURNS AND EXCHANGES

We want you to be happy with your order, so if anything doesn’t fit the bill (or the body), you are free to return or exchange it within 4 months of the purchase date, however:

  • Items must be received in like-new, resalable condition. We reserve the right to determine “like-new condition”.
  • We will not be able to take back any items that are soiled, have acquired a scent, or show signs of use or wear.
  • We can only accept products that require assembly in their original kit form. Once they have been assembled, we can no longer accept them for return.
  • We will apply a $5.00 restocking fee to each returned item that requires repackaging and/or a new product box.

HOW DO I ARRANGE A RETURN?

Call 888-481-6745 (9AM-4PM, EST) or email us at service@isabellacatalog.com to receive a return authorization (RA) number. This number helps us to know what to do with your return when it arrives back at our warehouse, so it is important that it be clearly written on the outside of the box.

WHAT ABOUT SHIPPING CHARGES?

Except in the case of damaged or defective merchandise, you are responsible for the cost of return shipping.
Exchanges of clothing items are returned to you with no additional shipping charge.
Exchanges of all other items will be charged shipping based on the dollar value of the exchanged merchandise per our shipping rate chart found here.

HOW WILL I BE CREDITED FOR MY RETURN?

Returns received within 4 weeks of the purchase date will be credited back to your original form of payment.
Returns received after 4 weeks and up to 4 months after the date of purchase will receive store credit issued in the form of a gift certificate.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE CREDIT FOR MY RETURN?

We do our best to process returns within 3 days of receipt, though may occasionally take as much as 5 days between Thanksgiving and January 15.
Credit to your account should post within 2 days of our processing of your return, but may take as many as 2 billing cycles to appear on your statement.
