If you have ever struggled with any type of addiction — food, drugs, alcohol, etc. — or know and love someone who has, this book is a must-read. Even if you are only curious about what it feels like to be in the clutches of an addiction, this book is for you. I have never read a more gut-wrenching, honest, soul-baring account. Jill Kelly pulls us into her world as she battles the addiction demons and doesn't let us out until the end of the book. You will keep thinking about her journey long after finishing the book.

Jill writes like a dream and it makes her story even more powerful — it is as if you are reading a novel instead of a memoir. The book follows Jill as she goes through college, grad school, her first teaching jobs, and the many men who come and go in her life. One of these men proves to be toxic for her, but she doesn't have the self-esteem to break up with him, no matter how humiliating the relationship becomes and no matter that she allows this to go on for years. All through her life, she masks her pain and insecurities with alcohol and casual sex, which only makes the problems worse. It is a vicious cycle that she finally breaks by going into treatment.

Once she comes out of treatment, you might think her story would end with ''happily ever after,'' but, as in real life, stories don't usually end that way or that conveniently. Jill begins a whole new life with a whole new set of problems, one of which becomes food addiction. She also realizes she hates what she is doing for a living and makes a major career change. Once again, we go along with her.

I picked up this book to just randomly flip through it, but once I read one page, I was hooked and read the whole thing in one sitting. It is equal parts fascinating, captivating, informative, and profound. When I finished it, my first impulse was to email Jill and tell her how much she had impacted my life with her story. I hope you will get as much out of this book as I did.

Shipping Information

We ship all orders from our warehouse in Spring Valley, California on the next business day (Monday through Friday) from when you placed your order. Depending upon your location, your order should arrive within 3 to 14 days.

We ship by both UPS and the U.S. postal service. We select whichever method provides the most efficient delivery of the items you've ordered. If you prefer one method over the other, please let us know. We need to have a physical street address for UPS. Please include shipping as indicated by the following chart, based on your merchandise subtotal:

Priority Mail - Add $7.95 to your standard shipping rate above. After your order is shipped, you can expect it in 3-5 business days.

UPS 2nd Day Air - Add $11.95 to standard shipping (Continental U.S.). We need a physical street address. This guarantees you will get your order within 2-3 business days (excluding weekends) after we ship it.

UPS One Day Air - Add $21.95 to standard shipping (Continental USA only). We need a physical street address. This guarantees you will get your order one business day after we ship it (excluding weekends).

Alaska, Hawaii and U.S. Territories - We normally ship all HI and AK orders by U.S. Mail Parcel Post (normal delivery time is 2-4 weeks). Add $7.95 to regular shipping for PRIORITY MAIL; after your order is shipped, you can expect it within 3-10 mailing days. Add $15.00 to regular shipping for UPS 2ND DAY AIR; please allow 3-4 business days from the time your order is shipped. (We need a street address.) No UPS to APO/FPO addresses.

Canadian Shipping:
We ship all Canadian orders by air. Payment must be in U.S. funds. The order recipient will be responsible for any duty/custom charges when the package arrives in Canada. Air mail rates: Add 15% of your subtotal, with a $7.95 minimum charge.

International Shipping:

We hope to offer you international ordering online soon. In the meantime, you may call 619-670-5200, fax 619-670-5203, or email us at customerservice@chinaberry.net with your order to find out what your shipping charge would be. If you are having your order shipped internationally, UPS requires that you include a phone number for them to contact for delivery information.

We ship international orders (except Canadian) via Air Express only. While this ensures your order will arrive very quickly (within one week), it is also very expensive. (Shipping generally begins at about $65.00 for a one pound package and goes up with weight.)

As an affordable alternative, many of our international customers have their orders shipped to a friend or relative in the U.S who will forward the orders on to them.

Sales Tax

We collect sales tax based on the "ship to" address of your order. We are required to collect sales tax in California, which is where we are located. If you're shipping to California, please include tax as follows:

Calculate 8.75% of the total of your merchandise.

We don't collect tax on gift certificates.

Sales Tax Exemption

We are required by law to collect sales tax on any orders going to California. If you are a tax-exempt organization, we need to have a copy of the Exemption Certificate issued to you by the State of California on file before you can order tax-free. You may either mail or fax (619-670-5203) us a copy of your certificate. We ask that you place your orders by mail, fax (619-670-5203) or phone. If you are ordering by phone, please call our customer service line, 1-888-481-6744, between 6am and 6pm Pacific time.

Return Policy

If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, simply return it within 4 months for a refund of the item price or an exchange for another item. For items returned after 4 months, we will give you a Chinaberry credit for the purchase price. On the back of your invoice, we provide you with a return form to complete. Please include it with your returned item(s). If an item is defective or if the order was filled incorrectly, we will send you a prepaid return label. If you have lost your return form, click here to print one out. We will do our best to handle the transaction quickly and in accordance with your wishes.
