The Earth-Friendly Art of Wrapping with Fabric
WATCH VIDEO FOR BOBO WRAPPING
I am always on the lookout for eco-friendly choices that are beautiful, functional, and encourage people to live a greener lifestyle. What could be better than finding an alternative to wrapping paper, especially when during the holidays alone, an additional four million tons of wrapping paper waste is generated? Introducing the BOBO wrapping scarf, an ingenious piece of fabric you twist and tie with the color-coordinated bungee to create a one-of-a-kind gift.
Growing up in a traditional Korean household, Patricia Lee saw her grandmother and great-grandmother using ''Bojagi'' as a way to wrap and even transport items, but it wasn't until she visited her birthplace of Seoul that she was inspired to reintroduce this fading tradition. You can wrap boxes, wine bottles, and those oddly-shaped items that can end up looking like some ridiculous asteroid. (Watch the video and see how easy it is to use these scarves.)
Instead of using virgin materials to create new fabric, Patricia carefully selects existing fabrics. These reusable wrapping scarves are silky rayon/polyester-edged with a decorative contrast stitch. Machine wash and dry, although hand-wash and air-dry are preferred. (The fabric is wrinkle-resistant, but if you need to press, use the silk setting on the non-iridescent side.) Each set includes a small (approx. 21.25'' square) and medium (approx. 27.25'' square) BOBO wrap and two bungees.
