I can't imagine any drink being more aromatic and delicious than Up 'N Atom Chai. I wasn't much of a chai drinker before trying this brew last summer, but I've been drinking it every day since. Knowing that it packs a powerful punch for my immune system helps me to justify my new habit.

Chai has been around for centuries, and with good reason. Every single ingredient in it is healthful. First, there's the black tea with its powerful antioxidant properties. It has half the caffeine of coffee, so you'll get all the benefits (feeling alert, heightened energy, improved concentration, and feeling good!) without any java jitters. Next, there's cinnamon, which is getting a lot of press for its ability to benefit diabetics, as well as to lower blood pressure. In addition, it's said to relieve symptoms of indigestion, gas, and heartburn as does the tea's ginger, cardamom, allspice, and pepper. Ginger also helps with colds, sore throats and flu symptoms, aching muscles, stomachaches, and motion sickness. (Recent research suggests it may even help lower the risk of colon cancer.) Cardamom stimulates the mind and gives clarity, along with helping people with asthma or other respiratory problems. Invigorating clove has been used for centuries for its antiseptic and analgesic qualities. Pepper also has antioxidant properties. Some scientists are even studying the possibility that chai tea can reduce the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and strokes.

Unlike boxed chai or chai in tea bag form, this loose tea is fresher than fresh. Owner Garimo uses organic tea and fresh spices that he chops himself. I've tried it with almond milk and without milk, with honey and without, both hot and iced — and it's all heavenly. It comes in a zip-loc pouch and will make about 3 gallons of tea.

Shipping Information

We ship all orders from our warehouse in Spring Valley, California on the next business day (Monday through Friday) from when you placed your order. Depending upon your location, your order should arrive within 3 to 14 days.

We ship by both UPS and the U.S. postal service. We select whichever method provides the most efficient delivery of the items you've ordered. If you prefer one method over the other, please let us know. We need to have a physical street address for UPS. Please include shipping as indicated by the following chart, based on your merchandise subtotal:

UPS 2nd Day Air - Add $11.95 to standard shipping (Continental U.S.). We need a physical street address. This guarantees you will get your order within 2-3 business days (excluding weekends) after we ship it.

UPS One Day Air - Add $21.95 to standard shipping (Continental USA only). We need a physical street address. This guarantees you will get your order one business day after we ship it (excluding weekends).

Alaska, Hawaii and U.S. Territories - We normally ship all HI and AK orders by U.S. Mail Parcel Post (normal delivery time is 2-4 weeks). Add $7.95 to regular shipping for PRIORITY MAIL; after your order is shipped, you can expect it within 3-10 mailing days. Add $15.00 to regular shipping for UPS 2ND DAY AIR; please allow 3-4 business days from the time your order is shipped. (We need a street address.) No UPS to APO/FPO addresses.

Canadian Shipping:
We ship all Canadian orders by air. Payment must be in U.S. funds. The order recipient will be responsible for any duty/custom charges when the package arrives in Canada. Air mail rates: Add 15% of your subtotal, with a $7.95 minimum charge.

International Shipping:

We hope to offer you international ordering online soon. In the meantime, you may call 619-670-5200, fax 619-670-5203, or email us at customerservice@chinaberry.net with your order to find out what your shipping charge would be. If you are having your order shipped internationally, UPS requires that you include a phone number for them to contact for delivery information.

We ship international orders (except Canadian) via Air Express only. While this ensures your order will arrive very quickly (within one week), it is also very expensive. (Shipping generally begins at about $65.00 for a one pound package and goes up with weight.)

As an affordable alternative, many of our international customers have their orders shipped to a friend or relative in the U.S who will forward the orders on to them.

Sales Tax

We collect sales tax based on the "ship to" address of your order. We are required to collect sales tax in California, which is where we are located. If you're shipping to California, please include tax as follows:

Calculate 8.75% of the total of your merchandise.

We don't collect tax on gift certificates.

Sales Tax Exemption

We are required by law to collect sales tax on any orders going to California. If you are a tax-exempt organization, we need to have a copy of the Exemption Certificate issued to you by the State of California on file before you can order tax-free. You may either mail or fax (619-670-5203) us a copy of your certificate. We ask that you place your orders by mail, fax (619-670-5203) or phone. If you are ordering by phone, please call our customer service line, 1-888-481-6744, between 6am and 6pm Pacific time.

Return Policy

If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, simply return it within 4 months for a refund of the item price or an exchange for another item. For items returned after 4 months, we will give you a Chinaberry credit for the purchase price. On the back of your invoice, we provide you with a return form to complete. Please include it with your returned item(s). If an item is defective or if the order was filled incorrectly, we will send you a prepaid return label. If you have lost your return form, click here to print one out. We will do our best to handle the transaction quickly and in accordance with your wishes.
