As we grow older, the rate at which our cells turn over slows down. When we were teenagers, we had new cells on our faces every 14 days, but by the time we reach 50, cell replacement takes considerably longer than 28 days. The result? Well, compare the skin of an 18-year-old with yours, and you'll get the point. Not that we want to look 18, but having a radiantly glowing complexion does seem like a good thing, don't you think?! That's why we exfoliate -- to remove that top layer of dead skin cells to make way for new ones. If a person has tough, oily skin (or if they're an exfoliant addict like I am), they can exfoliate every three to four days.
