When Anna Balkan left the Ukraine in 1992, she arrived in New York City with only $100 to her name. She couldn't speak English. She had no job. What she did have, though, was a dream to make beautiful jewelry and a commitment to always be a giver rather than a taker. She studied and worked very hard, and along the way, she never forgot to give back through her many philanthropic endeavors.
Today, her jewelry has reached red carpet status, and Anna is living her dream. She chose the red pearls on these earrings to represent the love and passion behind all her hard work. The hammered vermeil adds even more richness and character to the look. When I wear them (and I wear them a lot!), I think of Anna and am reminded what hard work and generosity can accomplish.
