I have childhood memories of an old man in our neighborhood who always carried a ''lucky'' rabbit's foot in his pocket, and a woman who would take out a shiny copper penny, flattened by a train, and rub it when she was anxious or sad. Both remind me how important it is for us to have special items that symbolize support and good fortune -- especially when life gets challenging or too much for us.
What a comforting feeling to carry this special lead-free pewter amulet around in one's pocket! ''All Shall Be Well'' is etched on the back, and the front is a hand-carved likeness of Julian of Norwich holding her cat. Julian was a holy woman in medieval times who spent most of her life in a church cell, praying and helping others.
