Q: I've seen an almost identical mat for a whole lot less. Why is yours more expensive?

A: We saw those mats too and had several testers try them, myself included. The consensus of the testers was unanimous. When we first tried the other mat we were happy because it felt more comfortable -- i.e., less sharp. Unfortunately (and I say ''unfortunately'' because we really wanted to love the less expensive one!), it's not as effective -- not even close. Why spend any money (or your time!) on something that brings you marginal results when you can invest in something that will truly make a difference in your life? We're not sure why this is the case. It could be because the less expensive one has shorter prongs and the tips may not be as sharp as the ones on the mat we carry (making it more comfortable to lie on initially), but what we do know is that we all experience fantastic results with our Therapeutic Massage Mat. Frankly, we didn't experience any noticeable results with the less expensive one.

Q: I have cardiomyopathy, but I read that your Therapeutic Massage Mat is not recommended for those with heart disease. It seems that it would be beneficial for circulation. I can understand it not being recommended for those with skin issues, but why would it not be recommended for heart issues?

A: The manufacturer of the mat recommends that people with any heart issues ask a doctor before using the mat. Using the mat can rapidly increase blood circulation, but only a doctor can predict how this may affect someone with a heart issue. The manufacturer provided us with the following study which mentions an elevation in the heart rate of healthy young men:

''In a clinical trial at the State Institute of Physical Education in Moscow, Russia in 1981, 2,450 treatments were given. During the applicator session, the heart rate of healthy young males was shown to increase for an average of 4.5 minutes, and then it returned to normal for the rest of the session. Arterial blood pressure might deviate from the baseline by 10 mm Hg, increasing or decreasing, during the session. Oxygen consumption increased by an average of 20% during the session and an average of 5 minutes after, returning to the baseline gradually after. CO2 expiration rate increased by average 17.5% demonstrating the dynamic similar to those for oxygen consumption. Physical exercise endurance with intensity 60% of maximal oxygen consumption was increased by an average of 10% after a 30 minute-duration session. Electrical parameters of acupoints for the endocrine glands and for the brain after the session became characteristic for a better functional state of the organism than before the session. This better functional state was confirmed also by increased skin bioluminescent radiation (effect of Kirlian) after the session.''

The lotus flowers are made from high quality hypo-allergenic plastic also used in medicine. A patented technology is used to attach the flowers to the mat without glue. The mat itself includes a coconut fiber mattress and pure linen cover with beautiful embroidery.

When you first get your mat, you may think,''You've got to be kidding!'' (I told you it's SHARP.) Yes, it may feel a little unpleasant when you first start out, but after a few minutes, most people think it feels really good. I use it every morning without clothes for maximum benefit. Return Policy

If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, simply return it within 4 months for a refund of the item price or an exchange for another item. For items returned after 4 months, we will give you a Chinaberry credit for the purchase price. On the back of your invoice, we provide you with a return form to complete. Please include it with your returned item(s). If an item is defective or if the order was filled incorrectly, we will send you a prepaid return label. If you have lost your return form, click here to print one out. We will do our best to handle the transaction quickly and in accordance with your wishes.
