A Memoir of Farming, Food, and Love
Kristin Kimball
WATCH VIDEO about The Dirty Life
I couldn't put this book down, and my daughter -- a devotee of local food and sustainability -- couldn't wait to get her hands on it. Kimball's writing is engaging, funny, honest, and hopeful. She writes in a ''juicy'' way that feeds the senses and is deeply fulfilling. I loved that her story evokes the same longing in the reader she had -- to get back to a life lived closer to the ground, where true nourishment and connection can be found.
Kimball went from being a single New York City freelance writer who barely boiled eggs to a happily married woman who now plows fields with draft horses and cooks meals for many on the sustainable farm she and her husband work together (which includes raising and killing animals for food).
