There's just no escaping the toxins in our environment today. Symptoms suggesting that you may be accumulating more toxins than your body can process run the gamut from fatigue to aches and pains and digestive issues. Over the past six years, we've tried numerous detox foot pads as a possible aid, but none of us has experienced any changes with them.
We stopped the press for this Himalayan Salt Detoxer™ (Patent Pending) after my first use! Resting on a handcrafted rosewood base is a rounded dome of solid 100% pure Himalayan pink salt. Underneath this dome are two 25-watt light bulbs with a dimmer cord to control the surface heat of the salt. Although it looks more like a piece of art (which it is!), this dome can be used as a platform to soothe arthritic hands, help relieve carpal tunnel syndrome, and for manicures and pedicures (used with tea-tree oil, it's excellent for treating Athlete's Foot and nail fungus).
Most importantly, it is the ticket for detoxification — far less expensive than ionic foot baths, yet more effective. When the salt is warmed, it releases negative ions, which are not only antimicrobial, but can produce a sense of well-being. If you use it in combination with essential oils and lotions, you'll enhance the treatment.
And even if a single negative ion wasn't involved, the salt dome feels like heaven on your tired, achy and/or cold feet. It arrived in our office the day after I had gone on an all-day hike, and after my first session, I felt renewed. On cold days in the office, I rest my feet on it as I work at my computer. A physical therapist we know recommends using it chilled for sprains, strains, and swelling of the feet. Although it's naturally cold when unheated, you can also place the dome in the refrigerator for several hours before using.
