Cooking with San Francisco's Firefighters
George Dolese, Steve Siegelman
Every fireman I have ever known knows how to cook and cook well, and they also seem to really enjoy it. I guess when you spend half your week away from home and you have to plan, shop for, and fix your own meals in order to eat (and feed a bunch of people), you really do learn how to cook! And, since the firefighters pay for all their own food, they turn out abundant, made-from scratch lunches and dinners for around ten dollars a day.
The Firefighters of San Francisco compiled their best recipes for this cookbook. The men and women of the SFFD are a very diverse group so these recipes run the gamut from all-American, Mexican, and Asian to Italian and California-creative. The book is divided into Salads and Soups, Main Dishes, Sides, and Desserts.
